Thinking

Imagination Nation and the cure to Risky Business

INo-one wants to take unnecessary risks. That’s a cornerstone of any sensible life, though one lived quietly. A new brand is always a risk, and part of our job at Oh Yeah is to spend time and imagination convincing new customers that a pocketful of risk is an integral part of the deal of running your own business.

Let’s allow ourselves to take risks

But we go further than that, and we do this because of one simple, self-evident idea: taking risks allows for radical thinking. And radical thinking, in alignment with the heart and soul of your business is what you lead with. That is the core idea that will make the difference.

Routines dull the senses, and give you back less and less each time. Disruption in its current form is, ultimately, a way to get someone to pay you instead of someone else. That’s not radical, and that won’t help you in the long game.

Your best bet this Monday lunchtime is to strike out and find new ground. The key to this is imagination. This is the rocket fuel that has powered Oh Yeah from the beginning. And, unlike actual rocket fuel, this stuff is infinite.

Where do you see yourself?

We won’t ask you where you see yourselves in five years, we’ll ask you where you see yourselves today. Not in meetings and presentations, but where do you see yourself going today. When the quotidian acts that make up your everyday disappear you realise you can fill your day with something else. Moments of insight and elan that spend their days lying dormant in you, waiting for the spotlight of your attention. Breaking this habit of living your day exactly as foreseen is key to moving forward.

It’s the Oh Yeah way.

So, time to set out for pastures unknown. Let your eyes rest for a moment on the paths not taken. Then, heart and soul in rude health and readiness your constant companion you take your first steps into something wonderful.
